6-Axis Industrial Robotic Arm

"Design and Development of a 3D Printed Industrial Robotic Arm with Automatic Tool Change Capability"

A full design-to-prototype development of a six-degree-of-freedom (6-DOF) educational robotic manipulator — an open, affordable platform for robotics, mechatronics, and programming education.

The arm uses stepper motors paired with custom 30:1 cycloidal reducers engineered from scratch in Fusion 360. The cycloidal gearbox — featuring dual hypocycloid discs, eccentric cam, ball bearing housing, and output rollers — delivers high torque with exceptional precision and minimal backlash.

All components were manufactured via FDM 3D printing in PLA+, controlled through an Arduino platform with forward kinematics implementation.
